Microbioreactors and their use in cell therapy manufacturing

This part 2 tutorial by Prof. Rajeev Ram will talk about microbioreactors.  During process development scales shrink further, precludes working at scales much larger than about 20 mL for early work and 250 mL for late-stage experimentation. At this stage, key variables and parameters (e.g. media composition, feed strategies, culture temperatures and pH, culture duration) to develop optimal cell culture conditions which maintain product quality attributes are optimized. Given the number of parameters and the staggeringly large number of combinations, microbioreactors are the optimal choice, with the ability to include automation and feedback control. Microbioreactors are also effective for manufacturing of autologous cell therapies which are often at smaller volumes.
