Electrostatic microfiltration enriches low-abundance bloodborne pathogens and improves downstream detection performance:

Sepsis, as a common cause of death, is a life-threatening illness caused by your body’s response to an infection, and one of the commonest reasons for admission into the intensive care unit. Early diagnosis and timely intervention are very important to improve survival rate and prognosis of sepsis. However, the current diagnosis method suffers a long turnaround time (up to 7 days) of pathogen detection. Hereby, this project will produce a rapid and sensitive novel microbiology diagnostic technique targeted for early diagnosis and timely intervention of sepsis.
