Joanne Loh

Research Engineer

Joanne obtained her bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Engineering (with Honours) from Singapore Institute of Technology in 2021 and joined SMART-CAMP in June 2022.

Prior to joining SMART-CAMP, Joanne was first an intern at Engine Biosciences from January - August 2020. She officially joined the company as a Research Associate right after graduation in February 2021. At Engine Biosciences, Joanne was part of the Target Discovery (TD) group that primarily explored combinatorial genes that can give rise to disease progression using the CRISPR technology.

Apart from assisting the pipeline as part of the TD group, her Capstone project during her internship was to optimise and engineer a new scaffold system to be utilised in Engine Biosciences’ unique CRISPR machinery. The innovated product was then further studied and used in the screening pipeline as she joined the company as a full time researcher.

Currently at SMART-CAMP, Joanne is responsible for propagating and tittering adventitious viruses (such as Epstein Barr virus, Human Adenovirus, Dengue etc). She is also currently assisting in the discovery of virus reactivation in various T-cells.
