Joshua Raymond

Research Engineer

Joshua holds a Bachelors of Engineering from the Singapore Institute of Technology. During his undergrad studies, he interned with SMART-CAMP and SMART-AMR research programs, where he developed an electrostatic filter coating that demonstrated exceptional capture and concentration of microorganisms. Joshua is passionate about point-of-care testing and is committed to expanding his knowledge in this area through his career and further studies.

Joshua is focused on developing and testing novel methods for the detection of adventitious agents in cell therapy processes. Currently detection methods take several days before a result can be obtained. In view of this Joshua has been developing new methods in hopes that this bottleneck can be overcome. Joshua is working with a team to develop an efficient and accurate detection method that can identify live microorganism contamination in cell therapy processes. It combines the electrostatic filter previously developed as well as a newly developed NAT reducing the detection time to several hours. Joshua is also involved in other rapid downstream detection techniques that are still in development.
