Sin Wei Xiang

Research Scientist

Wei-Xiang SIN is currently a Research Scientist in SMART-CAMP program. He is focussing on the investigation of critical quality attributes (CQAs) and critical process parameters (CPPs), and in helping with the development of process analytical technologies (PATs), related to the efficacy and safety of cell and gene therapy manufacturing, by leveraging a novel cell culture-on-a-chip platform technology, as well as by collaborating with other researchers at SMART CAMP. He is a molecular immunologist by training, having graduated from the inaugural Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN)-Nanyang Technological University(NTU) Joint Immunology PhD Program at the Agency for Science, Technology andResearch (A*STAR). Prior to joining SMART CAMP, he pursued postdoctoral training with the Synthetic Biology group at the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS, A*STAR) and with the Translational Immunology group at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB, A*STAR), as well as gained industry startup experience at a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-certified Contract Development and ManufacturingOrganization (CDMO) that specializes in the production of clinical-grade lenti viral vectors for translational and commercial cell and gene therapies.

His current projects include,

(a) High-throughput process characterization and development, and efficient scale-out of CAR T cell manufacturing on a microbioreactor.

(b) CAR-or donor-specific versus CAR- or donor-agnostic biological, biophysical, biochemical and/or metabolic attributes of CAR T cell effectiveness and persistence.

(c) Production and characterization of lentiviral vector-transduced anti-TIM3 CAR T cells for AML immunotherapy (in collaboration with IMPACT, A*STAR).
