Cameron JAMES

Post Doctoral Associate

Cameron James graduated with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Sheffield in 2023, where he spent two years at IMCB, A*STAR, Singapore. His doctoral research focused on revealing novel insights into the master regulators of multi-ciliogenesis. This was facilitated by CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing of primary players in the transcriptional cascade combined with the design and implementation of a hESC-derived directed differentiation programme to produce a reproducible human model of multiciliated cells. At SMART-CAMP he will be researching a streamlined manufacturing pipeline for the expansion of clinical grade iPSCs in spheroid culture and integrating deep learning methodologies (e.g. machine learning) as well as efficient differentiation techniques into cardiomyocytes and neural progenitors. Ultimately, the aim is to streamline expansion of iPSCs by finding the right conditions for growth, monitor/adapt cultures in real-time to produce the highest quality iPSCs that can be used for downstream clinical applications.
