Suhas is a Senior Postdoctoral Associate in the SMART CAMP program and works on developing and implementing computational/mathematical models for biomedical applications. Suhas is a computational biologist by training and received his PhD in Computational and Systems Biology from the Singapore-MIT Alliance in 2014. Following his PhD, Suhas was a research fellow at the Duke-NUS Medical school. Here, he worked on multiple projects at the intersection of computational and life sciences, employing a variety of tools such as mathematical modelling and simulations, machine learning, analysis of biological networks, stochastic modelling, deep learning, and biostatistics. His research has spanned the domains of Cancer biology, Neuroscience, Immunology and Immunotherapy, Metabolism, Protein structural biology, and Mechanobiology.
In his current project, Suhas works on developing ODE-based computational models for continuous estimation of CQAs such as growth and metabolic parameters of CAR-T cells growing in a bioreactor, using real-time sensor measurements. Such real-time estimation provides a means to monitor health and phenotypic states of cells inside the reactor, without compromising reactor sterility. Continuous modeling of growth and metabolism could also aid in developing process control technologies to optimize the cellular expansion process and direct it towards desirable cellular traits for cell therapy products.
